Tai Chi Classes

Tai Chi Instructors

Tai Chi, a form of martial arts, can be practiced at any age and any stage of physical ability. It is a gentle exercise that will center the mind and spirit. The focus is on fluid circular movements that are relaxed and slow. Breathing is deep and slow, aiding in concentration, relaxing the body and allowing the life force, or Qi, to flow unimpeded throughout the body.

Our Tai Chi classes are housed at the Danielson Martial Arts Academy in Windham County, Connecticut. Our instructors study under Master Malee Khow, the President of the National Tai Chi Chuan Federation. Some of our programs include the traditional Yang, Sun and Cheng Styles which promotes soft and gentle natural articulations of movement.

Our instructors also study under Master Wen Chen Wu. Master Wu has been teaching marital arts full time since 1990. He is an internationally recognized expert in internal and external martial arts and qigong; and is regarded as an extraordinary martial artist of the world. We are proud to be an extension of both Master Khow and Master Wu here in the northeast corner. Our Chief Tai Chi instructors each won two gold medals at the 2012 USA WKF National Championships.

It is a great routine for anyone from beginners to intermediate, post rehab patients and seniors. We always have two certified Tai Chi instructors at every program. After one class you will immediately feel the benefits.

Traditional Tai Chi QigongTraditional Tai Chi Qigong

Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
at Danielson Martial Arts Academy

Our traditional tai chi programs offer a variety of authentic family styles dating back 3000 years from ancient China.  The family styles include Yang, Sun and Chen.  Participants can expect to learn movements through natural range of motion that helps promote strength, flexibility, balance and concentration.

Our classes begin with a series of warm up exercises followed by healing qigong movements.  The forms are taught with very detailed explanation of the movements, as well as the martial application.  Our concept is to teach comfortably progressive, not swiftly aggressive, this allows the student to comprehend each lesson which simplifies practice at home.

The Qigong component of the class is a system of self healing exercises combined with mediation, gentle movement, visualization and breathing techniques. It is not unusual for participants to comment on how amazingly relaxed and calm they are after qigong exercises.

Attire: Loose fitting black bottoms (sweatpants, yoga pants, tai chi pants), Tai Chi Shoes or Kung Fu sneakers and a red program T-shirt.

Sessions are 6 weeks long. The cost is $60.00 per session.
